In 1968, Bountiful-based garage band The Grimm attracted major label interest for their first single, “The Darkness and the Night.” One year later, the band members would be scattered across the world, some having chosen to serve LDS missions, others drafted to fight in Vietnam.

The Grimm’s second single “The Begger” was never released. According to original band member Greg Erickson, fewer than 20 promotional copies were pressed before The Grimm disbanded. 

Though “The Begger” was included on a recent compilation of unreleased Grimm recordings, the original mix - murky and fuzz blasted - remains one of the lost gems of the 1960s Utah rock underground.
