This one is a landmine of social, racial, and political discussion better left to more articulate people than myself. “My Girl” is the most enjoyable part of this album in my opinion.
It’s a homemade affair accompanied by a random 12 year old member from the audience on bongos in some parts. The rhythm is unhinged and falls out of time over and over, almost to point where you stop listening but Alan Cherry’s voice holds it all together somehow.
It’s rumored that some of the members were in the San Francisco psych group Tripsichord Music Box until they left to convert to the LDS church.
