The D’s got their start with Capital records all the way back in 1962 as the folk group The Three D’s. They released two albums and then ventured off into private press territory forever.
Initially, there were Denis Sorenson, Dick Davis and Duane Hiett. Dennis left the mix, and they became just the D’s. The Now Sound is an effort to capture the popular flower child sound, and they do a pretty damn good job of it.
They were a band that peripherally did a lot of LDS related projects and worked extensively with Covenant Records. The song “Time Will Tell” is surprisingly psychedelic, and will take you on a journey. It definitely stands out from their other more religious material.
Another interesting artifact in their catalogue is called The Soul of Poetry, which is a mildly psychedelic take on spoken word and is worth checking out.
